Ancestral and Religious Trauma Counselling

Religion plays a significant role in the human story across all cultures and eras, from ancient times to the present.

Many of us are born into religious families, and almost everyone grows up within a society shaped—directly or indirectly—by religious or spiritual traditions.

It is natural for people to reflect on their beliefs, question them, and eventually find a way of living that feels grounded and authentic. Having questions is not a problem; it is a healthy and normal part of being human. A meaningful life is one that feels right for you.

Unfortunately, some people do not feel safe exploring their beliefs. Social and religious pressures can create environments shaped by shame, guilt, judgement, or abuse—patterns that are often passed down through generations.

Spirituality-Based Ancestral and Religious Counselling offers a safe and supportive space to explore your beliefs, identify and heal wounds caused by harmful practices or teachings (including religious trauma), and rebuild self-esteem, identity, and a healthy personal spirituality.

Alongside this work, we also address everyday life challenges, recognising that all aspects of life are deeply connected.

There is no pressure to change your beliefs—or to keep them. This is your unique path toward a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

The answers already exist within you; my role is to help you uncover them.

More about me.

I was born into the Exclusive Brethren (now rebranded as the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church), a sixth-generation descendant of founding members.

My life was happy, with a peaceful childhood followed by marriage and children. I was part of a loving family and close-knit social community.

Over time, however, I became increasingly aware of deeply ingrained worldviews, beliefs, and social practices that no longer felt right for me.

Leaving the PBCC was an extremely difficult decision, driven by a longing for authenticity and a deep need to follow my inner truth.

The experience was profoundly traumatic—for both me and my family. In reflecting on my ancestral lineage, I can now see similar patterns of harm and loss arising from fundamentalist beliefs, echoing across generations.

I have chosen to be a circuit breaker: to heal ancestral trauma within my lineage and to offer a safe, compassionate space for others facing similar journeys to do their own healing.

Although leaving meant separation from my entire family, including my three deeply loved children, I hold hope that one day they will find the freedom to explore the wider world and choose their own paths.

I hold formal qualifications in Counselling and Energy Healing.
